Hi Karen,
I'm not trying to be difficult.
Our personalities are very different. You are
sensible and flexible.
I am headstrong, determined, stubborn and inflexible
if I strongly believe I am in the right. I won't walk
to the heel command for anybody. I will pull and
reef, jerk them off their feet until I break free of
that leash. I've never been easily restrained.
I don't go looking for trouble but if trouble comes
knocking I won't back down for the sake of a quiet
peaceful life. Each of us has to be true to our
principles.
If I believe in something I will fight for it. On the
other hand if I make a mistake, or I am in the wrong I
will admit it and try to make amends.
We aren't in the wrong with DOD. We are not trying to
benefit from Margaret's business. If people do a
search for photo's on items we will not show up in the
search list. If we were trying to trick Margaret's
clients we would have placed our site in the search
engines and directories so we did show up and rival
Margaret's site.
She doesn't have a case against us. She knows it! If
she was sure she could have the .org taken from us,
she wouldn't be seeking out Dreamhost, she'd go
straight to ICANN. If she was even 75% sure she could
win she would have lodged a dispute against us right
from the beginning instead of having a constant battle
of words. She's not at all sure she will win, that's
why she is trying to frighten us by saying she
reported up to dreamhost.
She is counting on us backing down to her threats.
She probably bullied the .net people over and over
until she broke them down. She is used to getting her
way with these tactics, so why change?
If dreamhost doesn't even contact Don over her
complaint, then they obviously don't think she has a
case against him (us).
I think we should play the waiting game with her. If
we don't respond, she will get frustrated and contact
us again. If she does contact us and still hasn't
lodged a dispute with ICANN I think we should tell her
we are considering placing some text on our site about
the name dispute so our designer and customers are
kept up to date. If her site happens to get bad
publicity because of this text she only has herself to
blame.
She cannot sue us for slander because there is a
domain name dispute and a lot of sites do post about
it on their site to let their clients and or partners
know what is going on.
How would you both feel about adding text about the
name dispute to our page? We would only do this if
Margaret contacts us again with hollow threats.
We can be open and up front with her and give her 24
hours notice that the text will be going up.
